Ryan co-owns a Moroccan restaurant, which he bought on impulse and now oversees the menus
In 2007, he released a solo album called Put Me In The Car
He likes older ladies, having dated Sandra Bullock, despite him being 16 years her junior
He's not even kind of ugly.
He muscled (yes, that was a deliberate pun, have you seen his body?!) his way into the mainstream in romantic movie The Notebook, but Ryan has actually been acting his whole life.
He first started his career as a child star in Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club alongside Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. He became very close with Justin Timberlake, and after Ryan’s mum had to return home to Canada for work reasons, JT’s mum became his legal guardian for a while.
After the show was cancelled in 1995, Ryan appeared in various family entertainment programmes, such as Goosebumps and *Young Hercules.
- Aged 19, he decided to move into more serious drama. His first film was a supporting role in Remember The Titans. Having wet his appetite for movies, Ryan went on to act in numerous ‘controversial’ films, until landing the role as leading man Noah in The Notebook, alongside Mean Girl Rachel McAdams in 2004.
Following the success of The Notebook, Ryan took three years away from acting. Since returning, he has stared in a number of films, including 2011’s Drive, Crazy Stupid Love and Ides of March. He had a cameo on the 2012 comedy hit *Ted.
- Ryan and Rachel McAdams went on to have an off-screen relationship in 2005, despite having disliked each other during filming. Ryan said “It was a strange experience, making a love story and not getting along with your co-star in any way.” Ryan has also been romantically linked with actresses Olivia Wilde and Eva Mendes.
