Angelina Jolie has spoken about her divorce for the first time and admitted they will "always be a family"

The world was completely shocked in September when the A list couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt announced they were divorcing and now the mum-of-six has spoken about the heartbreaking news for the first time.

Opening up about her split the 41-year-old actress admitted: "I don't want to say very much about that, except to say it was a very difficult time and we are a family, and we will always be a family.

"And we will get through this time and hopefully be a stronger family for it," she told BBC World News.

The mum to Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, ten and eight-year-old twins, Knox and Vivienne also admitted at the moment she's focusing on her children: "Many, many people find themselves in this situation.

"My whole family we have been through a difficult time. My focus is my children, our children and my focus is finding this way through.

"We are and forever will be a family and so that is how I am coping. I am coping with finding a new way through to make sure that this somehow makes us stronger and closer."

Angelina added that her first thought when she wakes up in the morning is "getting through the day," because of the difficult few months.

She continued: "Usually I just wake up trying to figure out who's going to take the dog out, who's going to start the pancakes and did anybody brush their teeth."

Brangelina met on the set of the movie Mr and Mrs Smith and although at the time Brad was married to Jennifer Aniston they later split and Brad and Angelina became a couple.

Angelina denied having an affair with Brad. At the time she said: "To be intimate with a married man, when my own father cheater on my mother is not something I could forgive.

"I could not look at myself in the morning if I did that. I wouldn’t be attracted to a man who would cheat on his wife."

The actors got married in 2014 but were together for ten years. The reason for their split was irreconcilable differences.
