The 53 year-old, who is engaged to a man 22 years her junior, told a UK newspaper: “I just don’t want to live that long. I’m working on going before then. That’s why I drink so much. What’s the point of living for ever?”

The former Closer columnist admitted that she can see why people don’t want to live very long, saying: “I can see myself getting bored. Not with life – I’m healthy and fit and I can still afford to take care of myself. But if I wasn’t in that situation, I can see how people wouldn’t want to carry on.”

Speaking about her relationship with toyboy fiancé Mark Cassidy, the TV star said: “I’m already teaching Mark how to push a wheelchair around – I probably won’t be healthy.”

“I am with a younger man and it is quite difficult when you see yourself ageing so much quicker than he is. I’ve got to try and keep it the way it is, rather than let it go downhill too quickly,” she added.

Carol, who has starred on ITV chat show Loose Women for 10 years, has previously said she would consider a facelift over worries people would think Mark was her son.

She told a UK newspaper last year “I would love to have a facelift. My face is heading south and, more than anything, I want to look better and less tired.”

“I also don't want people to think that I am Mark's mother, although she is 10 years older than me and looks amazing.”
