Carol Vorderman has opened up about how she’s happy to be independent now she has split from her boyfriend Graham “Duffy” Duff.

The 55-year-old previously dated 41-year-old Graham for four years, with the pair taking a short break last year and deciding to end their relationship this year.

She told The Mirror: “I’m happily single, freely independent and doing my own thing.

“I’m not opposed to going out with someone 10 years younger, it’s acceptable. But Duffy was 14 years younger – that was a bit silly really.”

Carol has been divorced twice from previous marriages and has two children, Katie, 24 and Cameron, 19, who have now both left home.

The TV presenter went on to explain that when you bring up children, “you run on somebody else’s clock” and now her children have flown the nest, she is looking forward to doing things she’s interested in.

Carol said that the best thing about being single is “being able to do what you want” and that you don’t have to “check in” with anyone.

Carol found fame on Channel 4’s Coutndown in 1982, where she helped present for 26 years.

Since leaving the show, Carol has been embracing her fun-loving side – and even dyed her hair platinum blonde.

In 2011 and 2014, Carol won Rear of the Year as she showed off her curvaceous figure. Admitting she feels more confident now, Carol said: “I feel more confident now I’m older.

“I think that’s the same for many women my age. I’m not saying we look better than we did but when you’ve ticked the parenting box you have more time for yourself.”

However, she did admit to trying Botox, and admitted that it’s “pretty normal” as “everybody has it [done]”.

Now “semi-retired”, the Pride of Britain Awards presenter is looking into flying, after gaining her private pilot’s license in 2013.

Carol hopes to become the ninth woman to complete a solo flight around the world, as she films her adventure for a new Channel 5 show.

It's great to see Carol is thouroughly enjoying her life. Good luck on your solo trip!
