Caroline Flack has confessed that during her time presenting The X Factor for just one series, she used alcohol as a ‘treat’ to deal with stress.

The 36 year old suffered several mistakes during the live shows, alongside singer Olly Murs in the 2015 series, which led to viewers and critics mocking the pair.

Speaking to The Sun about her short-lived X Factor stint, Caroline revealed that she would ‘turn to wine’ after a stressful day. She revealed:

“I wasn’t feeling 100 per cent healthy or 100 per cent happy.

She continued: “I used to turn to wine if I had a stressful day. And I acted like it was a treat. But it’s not a treat.

“You’re just covering up your stress rather than dealing with it.”

Reports said that Caroline was axed from the ITV show, but she insists it was her decision to leave.

Earlier in the year, Caroline dyed her hair brown and embarked on a sugar detox, where she admitted to feeling “the best since birth”.

Since starting her new healthy regime, the brunette has been posting many happy pictures to her Instagram and is clearly feeling in a better place since leaving the show.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, Caroline said: “Going 12 weeks without fruit, red wine and chocolate was hard but also liberating. I lost a stone in total, and I go to hot yoga three times a week. It feels great.”

And now the presenter is returning to Love Island for a second series, as well as now being a breakfast presenter for Heart radio on a Sunday.

Love Island returns on Monday at 9pm on ITV2.
