Trinny Woodall, who shot to fame as the co-presenter of What Not To Wear, has recently been linked to Nigella Lawson's ex-husband Charles Saatchi.

"I drank a bottle of vodka a night, with cocaine and pills"

And, on the same day Saatchi has referred to Nigella as "Higella", accusing her of being "off her head on drugs", Trinny has confessed to a drug habit of her own.

Writing in The Spectator, Trinny has explained that anyone can succumb to drugs, whatever their background, and that addiction is a disease, not a choice.

"One evening [when I was 16] I was presented with cocaine, and I wanted to be cool. So I took it, and I suddenly felt this confidence that I had lacked so much."

She first went into rehab aged 21 after an overdose but carried on taking on drugs and started drinking heavily.

She said: "I drank a bottle of vodka a night, with cocaine and pills. And I started to get into trouble. Not the kind of trouble that ended in prison, but it ended up with me feeling lonely and isolated."

At the age of 26, Trinny reveals that she began to work on getting better - but that, even now, she still considers herself an addict.

"I began to build the foundation of my life today. Different from the fake, lying, thieving, cheating person I had been."

"I wasn’t a bad person becoming a good person. I believe I was a sick person, and I needed to get well. And the belief that I had a disease helped me to get through it. It has not been an easy journey."

She added: "I have people today who say to me, ‘You are quite successful, you have made something of your life, why do you still need to go [to an addiction support group]?’"

Nigella Lawson has recently been rocked by Charles Saatchi's claims that she is a habitual cocaine user

"To me, it is like a diabetic with insulin. If that diabetic stops taking insulin, they will die, and I believe that if I don’t follow the 12-step programme I will regress, and that could eventually be the death of me."
