The internet went into meltdown last week when #CongratsLiam trended on Twitter, with fans getting confused and thinking that Cheryl's pregnancy rumours had been confirmed.
In fact, Liam had just announced a US record deal.
Now pals says that Cheryl, 33, and Liam, 23, have discussed the possibility of making a move across the pond and relocating to LA – and that Cheryl has even reached out to friends living Stateside, including Simon Cowell and Khloe Kardashian.
Surprisingly, insiders also say that cheating ex-husband Ashley Cole, who has been living in California since January, has also been in touch.
A pal says: "Cheryl's always maintained a good relationship with Ashley's mum, who told him Cheryl was considering her next move.
"Ashley decided to message Cheryl to congratulate her on the new start following the divorce. Cheryl told him how she and Liam had been debating a move to LA."
Despite a spokesman saying the singer has no current plans to move to the US, a source says she thinks a future move could be good for their relationship, saying: "Cheryl feels she might get more quality time with Liam in LA without so much public scrutiny."
