After mum Judy Finnigan caused controversy by saying that convicted rapist Ched Evans should be allowed to play again because his attack was "not violent", 27-year-old Chloe Madeley became the victim of Twitter trolls.

Now, keen to have her say on the matter, Chloe has written an online letter explaining what her mother actually meant by the comments.

The fitness fanatic said: "I feel I must clear something up. The comments she made on the case in question were facts, not opinions.

"While it may anger some that the term 'non violent rape' exists, unfortunately it does."

WHY I NEVER TOLD ANYONE ABOUT MY RAPE

Defending her mum, she added: "To believe my mother is pro non-violent rape is ridiculous and I am shocked that so many people have jumped to that conclusion."

Chloe also revealed that she had been targeted by Twitter trolls as part of the process - many of whom have told her that they hoped she gets raped herself.

Hitting back, she said: "To the trolls wishing rape on me, stop, you are utterly pathetic."

Judy has since apologised for her words she said on her Loose Women debut this week.

Richard's wife apologised "profusely" and said: "Let me add that, to me, rape is rape. It is an appalling crime. I was simply reporting the legal facts of this case before commenting."
