It is claimed that the proposal came as a complete shock (a good one we hope!) to Coronation Street beauty Michelle.
“It was a really big surprise for Michelle”, a source claimed. “Mark proposed to her on a beach during their holiday in Dubai.”
The former TOWIE star chose Dubai as the destination to propose because it holds happy memories for the couple. The pair first got together at a New Year’s Eve party in the country last year. And Mark apparently wowed Michelle with a beautiful five-carat diamond ring.
Both Michelle and Mark have been engaged previously but each called their respective relationships off.
Mark broke off his engagement to fellow The Only Way is Essex star Lauren Goodger after it was claimed she cheated on him. The couple had been on and off for nine years.
Michelle and Max George from The Wanted ended their engagement using conflicting schedules as the reason but it is alleged Max was sexting his ex-girlfriend during their relationship.
The pair met in December 2010 and split up in July 2012.
Both Mark and Michelle have yet to comment on the engagement but it should come as great news for ITV, who are hoping to turn them into a new presenting duo. A source said last week: “Mark and Michelle are being viewed as a potential golden couple of the channel.”
