Victoria Beckham is the latest celebrity to inadvertently spark an online debate about whether parents should kiss children on the lips.
This picture that Victoria posted to Instagram to toast Harper's
fifth birthday has racked up 3,500 comments with people debating whether it's 'okay' to kiss your child on the lips.
She captioned the snap, “We all love you so much, kisses from mummy."
The comments included some claims that the photo was “pervy” and some even argued that kissing children could spread cold sores.
One person commented: “It is strange to kiss your parents on the lips.
“We need to stop saying to other people it isn’t.”
Another stated that it's her 'traditional views' that lead her to believe it's wrong: “Ew sorry I’m old fashioned it looks like they making out”.
Howevever, it wasn't long before the other side of the debate came into full force.
One wrote: "Beautiful picture. Shows the bond and love between mother and daughter. If anyone else sees something different then maybe they should question themselves. Idiots. Xxxx"
Another agreed, commenting: "Absolutely love this picture.... shows true love for mother and daughter... I have a 3yr old girl and 8yr old boy and I kiss them on the lips.. nothing at all wrong with it.. Happy Birthday Harper have an amazing day xx"
Tv personality and comedian, Jason Manford, has also weighed into the debate. Writing on his personal Facebook page, he said:
"Can't understand the furore surrounding Victoria Beckham kissing her 5 year old daughter on the lips! What is wrong with people!? It's a parent kissing their child, why do people always have to see the worst!
I'd suggest that anyone complaining about it or calling it weird, actually has something wrong with them! it's not like she slipped a tongue in! Grow up and watch the actual news and get upset about something that matters you cretins!
Aaaaaaaand breathe!"

Apprentice star Luisa Zissman has also had her say on the matter, sharing a beautiful collage of her and her daughter on Instagram:
Captioning the pic, she wrote: "As if there isn't enough hate and not enough love in the world already. Victoria Beckham now being slated for KISSING her own child!! Ridiculous!!!! Spread love not hate & the first ppl we need to teach love and affection to is our children. If you think there is something wrong with this, please take a look in the mirror at yourself. I'm with you @victoriabeckham"
