EastEnders newcomer Sophie Dodd left fans scratching their heads this week.

Because, even though we KNEW she was brand-new to the soap, we couldn’t shake the feeling that she looked awfully familiar.

And the real-life Anna Windass was quick to respond and confirm that there was a VERY good reason for that.

She tweeted excitedly: “That's because she's @PoppyRush1 and she's my daughter!”

Bless her; she’s just the same as any proud mummy, isn’t she?

Poppy Rush made her soap debut on Monday night, when her character Sophie arrived in Albert Square alongside her friend Kyle.

And her mum - clearly hooked on watching those first scenes - also reached out to congratulate Riley Carter Millington, the transgender actor who plays Kyle.

She wrote: “@PoppyRush1 @MrRileyCarter1 another brill ep”

Touched by her comments, Riley responded: “Thank-you Debbie!

“Love working with your talented daughter.”

Pleased as punch to hear her daughter praised this way, Debbie replied: “I can tell because you're fab together x”

Making things EVEN cuter was Poppy, who popped up to thank her doting mum as well.

N’aww! And who said there was rivalry between soaps, eh?

Kyle has been appearing on EastEnders since October, but the transgender character’s identity was only revealed this week.

Yup, he’s Stacey’s half-brother… although we imagine that there are more than a few more explosive revelations headed our way.

EastEnders continues tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One.
