Strictly Come Dancing fans might think they have figured out who is going to (fox) trot off with the Glitterball trophy this year.

But Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood thinks viewers could be up for the biggest voting upset since Honey G was unceremoniously kicked off The X Factor.

For the past couple of weeks, Hollyoaks hunk Danny Mac has been coming out on top of the Strictly score board – scoring perfect 10s more than once during the current fourteenth series of the long running BBC dance show.

For many, this is more than enough to confirm that he will be the winner of the 2016 Strictly crown, but 51-year-old Craig is advising not to place bets on the 28-year-old.

"Danny is such an amazing dancer, I'm definitely keen to sign him up for a role in one of my shows one day, he's the perfect package, after all," the judge wrote in Woman magazine.

And while that all sounds very pleasant and complimentary, it seems Craig was just pulling us into a false sense of security.

"That being said," he went on, writing: "I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that he'll win the series."

Well, that's us told, then.

Danny has wowed Strictly fans week after week with his dazzling routines with dance partner Oti Mabuse, 26.

Their fancy footwork has seen them soar all the way to the semi-final without ever facing a dance off in the bottom two.

Their achievement is made all the more impressive by the fact that Danny recently confessed he has been crippled by sleepless nights and anxiety due to his appearance on the top rating show.

"I've had anxiety attacks. I've panicked like I have never panicked in my life," Danny revealed last week.

"It's strange to be woken up in the middle of the night. It's going through my head all the time. It's exhausting," he added, confessing he struggles with the knowledge that he is performing to an audience of millions.

Last weekend saw Strictly received its highest ratings of the series – pulling in over 11 million as fans tuned in to see Judge Rinder get eliminated.

Try not to let that worry you, Danny!

Meanwhile, outgoing judge Len Goodman has recently revealed a replacement for him is yet to be announced.

"I will have no input. It is all down to the producers but whoever they pick I'm sure will be the right choice," he said during an appearance on This Morning last week.

Len just hopes whoever is chosen will have a great understanding of dance basics.

"I hope it will be someone who has done ballroom and Latin because as good as the other judges are, I think the balance of the judges is terrific, but you need one who has done ballroom and Latin and knows about heels and toes," he said.
