Danielle Milian’s son was diagnosed with Omphalocele, a birth defect that causes internal organs to grow outside of the body while Danielle was still pregnant, Us Weekly reports.
Back in June, she revealed that she and her husband, Richard Dickerson, were advised to terminate their pregnancy, but had decided to give their little one a chance at life.
She said at the time: "The tech said, 'I can't see the sex...because I am seeing intestines.’”
Explaining that her son's stomach, gallbladder, spleen, and liver could be seen outside his torso, she added: "I was told there's almost a 53 percent chance of mortality."
However it seemed that, at first, her son might defy the odds.
On the 26th August, shortly after his birth, Christina Milian’s sister shared a photograph of her little one’s foot on Instagram, writing: “Baby Richie has arrived! #prayersup for my #babyboy.
“He is already a fighter!”
However, just hours later, she shared an image of herself with her baby’s handprint on her heart.
Captioning the post, Danielle tragically revealed that her little boy had passed away.
She wrote: “Yesterday I was blessed with the birth of my Richie Bear. Unfortunately, last night he took his place with the Lord and we said goodbye.
“I so appreciate the prayers and support from everyone. He touched my heart and was perfect in so many ways.”
Her sister, Christina, also posted a touching tribute to her little nephew.
“The last 24 hours have been an emotional roller coaster but I’d like to thank everyone for being so supportive throughout my sister Danielle and Richard’s pregnancy.
“The both of them have shown the true measure of courage and faith for the last 9 months and I can't praise them more.”
She continued: “Our family was blessed to have met our little angel Baby Richie. We were fighting for him and with him the whole way and are now coping with the direction in which fate took.
“I ask that you keep him and our entire family in your prayers - especially Danielle, Richard, Naomi & Dj - and know that we've all been touched by our little Guardian Angel. His memory will forever live on in our thoughts and our hearts.
“May he now rest in peace in the arms of our Heavenly Father.”
