First pictures of Coleen and Wayne Rooney’s newborn son ‘Klay’

Coleen and Wayne Rooney have tweeted the first pictures of their newborn son who arrived in the early hours of this morning.

Proud father Wayne posted a picture showing he and wife Coleen cradling their new son, who they have named ‘Klay Anthony,’ while three-year-old Kai sits on his father’s lap.

Alongside the picture, 27 year-old Wayne wrote: 'My family with our new baby boy Klay.'

Coleen later thanked her followers for the ‘lovely messages’ the famiy had received, and posted a second photo of baby Klay.

Footballer Wayne announced the arrival of the couple’s second son earlier this morning, tweeting: 'Our Beautiful Son Klay Anthony Rooney was born at 2.11am, Weighing 7Ib 11.5 oz. Both Klay and Coleen are fine..... We're all delighted!!'

Coleen, also 27, added: 'At 2.11am our Beautiful Son .... Klay Anthony Rooney entered the world. He weighed 7Ib 11.1/2 oz We're all so happy and doing well. X.'

The pair’s showbiz friends have since congratulated them on the new addition to their family, with Coleen’s fellow WAG’s leading the way.

Closer’s columnist Danielle O’Hara, who is pregnant with her third child, gushed over baby Klay’s picture. Responding to pal Coleen’s Twitter pic of baby Klay, she wrote: ‘he is gorgeous babe such a lovely picture congrat's again ♥’

Alex Gerrard, wife of Wayne and Coleen’s fellow Liverpudlian Steven Gerrard, wrote: ‘Congratulations to @ColeenRoo an @WayneRooney on the birth of there little boy !!! Lots of luv xxxxxx’

According to a UK newspaper, the name ‘Klay’ is an old English name which means 'mortal'.

Coleen and Wayne announced they were expecting a son via Twitter in December - two months after confirming Coleen's second pregnancy.
