A coroner's report has determined that the singer passed away of natural causes

It has today been announced that a coroner's report into George Michael's death has found that the Careless Whisper singer passed away on Christmas Day last year of natural causes.

According to Darren Salter, senior coroner for Oxfordshire, who conducted the report, George had heart and liver disease, and suffered from a dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver.

The report said: "Inquiries into the death of George Michael have been concluded and the final post-mortem report received.

"As there is a confirmed natural cause of death, being dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver, the investigation is being discontinued and there is no need for an inquest or any further enquiries.

"No further updates will be provided and the family requests the media and public respect their privacy."

The coroner concluded that there was no need for an inquest as there was a "natural cause of death".

As soon as the results became public knowledge, George's partner at the time of his death, Fadi Fawaz, posted a photo of himself with George and the caption: "The truth is out..."

This was in response to speculation that he may have had something to do with George's death.

Thames Valley Police also responded to the news, and said that it had closed its investigation into his death. It read: "As the cause of death was natural, no further action is proposed or required."

According to the British Heart Foundation, dilated cardiomyopathy is: "A disease of your heart muscle where it becomes stretched and thin. This means that it's unable to pump blood around your body efficiently."

Myocarditis is where the heart muscles become inflamed.
