Popular Gogglebox star Stephen Webb, who regularly appears in the show alongside ex-boyfriend Chris, has opened up about his brother dying from a heroin overdose.

His brother Paul was just 32 when he passed away following an ongoing battle with drugs, with Stephen noting that he will never get over the circumstances surrounding his death.

Writing in his new book We Need To Talk, that's co-written by Chris, he spoke of his brother's downward spiral into a world of drugs and crime:

“He died twelve years ago from a heroin overdose and it’s something my family will never get over. When we were kids Paul was always getting into trouble. We smoked our first joint together in our local park when I was nine and he was ten..

“That was the first time I’d heard of or experienced drugs, but Paul was a law unto himself and as he got older he started to experiment more…

“As we got older, Paul started to get into trouble with the police, and he also started doing harder drugs.”

Admitting that 'he fell to the floor' in shock when he received the devastating phone call from him sister informing him of Paul's 'massive overdose' that resulted in death.

The Gogglebox star added that he thinks his brother's overdose wasn't accidental: “The coroner said that there was such a huge amount of heroin in his system that she didn’t think he’d done it by mistake.”

“He’d been taking heroin for many years and he would have known that amount would be fatal.”

Back in January, Stephen announced his engagement to boyfriend of two years Daniel Lustig, during a holiday in India.

Stephen, 44, posted a number of pics of the couple alongside the caption: 'I asked the lovely @lustig75 to marry me in the beautiful surroundings of the Oberio hotel in Agra, and he said yes.'

Stephen's self-penned book will be out in July 2017. The blurb makes for veeeeeery exciting reading:

"Chris and Stephen off Gogglebox are known and loved by millions of viewers for their outrageous humour, filthy language and adorable sausage dogs.

But there's a lot more to them than that. The ex-partners have both had their fair share of ups and downs, and here in their joint memoir they carry us through their experiences on a wave of hilarious back-and-forth conversations and killer one-liners. From their childhoods:

(Stephen: "Going to allotment was something we'd look forward to. Especially when it got dark and we used to nick everyone's vegetables"

Chris: "We lived in this flint house on the edge of the cemetery, and not surprisingly it was really haunted.")
