Leicester footballer Jamie Vardy and his wife Rebekah were "terrified" after finding a rash on baby Finley's skin

Jamie and Rebekah Vardy have praised their local hospital after finding a "terrifying" rash on their four-month-old baby's skin.

The parents frantically rushed baby Finley, who was born in January, to the Leicester Royal Infirmary when he started to run a high temperature.

In situations like that, any parent would be panicking that their child was suffering the symptoms of deadly meningitis.

Although baby Finley thankfully did not have meningitis, he did have the shingles, which is also a very worrying illness for babies to have.

Shingles is an infection which causes nasty rashes to develop on the skin which can turn into blisters.

Thank goodness - little Finley is now recovering well!

Rebekah, 35, tweeted the hospital to thank them for treating her son so well, calling the hospital a "credit" to the NHS.

She wrote: "Thank you so much to the staff at LRI for taking such good care of us yesterday! A credit to the NHS."

A source told The Sun: "It was very frightening for them both – as it would be for any parent.

"They went through the necessary checks and discovered Finley has shingles, which can be serious in young babies. The couple were reassured by doctors that he will make a full recovery – a huge relief for all the family."

We're glad to hear little Finley is on the mend!
