Many parents will know the difficulty of making sure your children are protected when surfing the Internet.

Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet has spoken of her concern that busy parents are at risk of ‘losing control’ over their children thanks to our modern lifestyles.

Speaking to the Sunday Times, the mother-of-three recommended that parents keep their kids’ use of smartphones to a minimum.

She said: “Don’t let them sleep with (the device).”

Kate continued: “Play Monopoly. These things are not rocket science. Do drawing games. If we got to the pub we always take paper and pen.”

“I think the parents are losing control.

“Especially if they’re busy parents. It’s really hard to keep your finger on the pulse.”

She also suggested that abuse of technology could lead to youngsters developing conditions such as eaten disorders.

Kate is mum to daughter Mia, 15, son Joe, 11 and 23-month-old son Bear.
