Katie claimed the bikini photos of her rounded stomach while in Barbados with husband Kieran Hayler were the result of a "food baby."
Now pals tell Closer that the speculation has stirred-up powerful emotions for mum-of-five Katie - who is longing to have another child.
A source says: "Katie's devastated she isn't pregnant and insists it's not from want of trying. The one thing she really wanted this year was another baby.
"She loves having kids and has made no secret of wanting more, so having all this speculation surrounding her with no exciting news to tell just makes her feel even worse."
The mum-of-five recently opened up about her plans to adopt a 'newborn', but added that her husband of three years isn't yet on board, joking 'he hasn't got a say' in the adoption.
A source says: "Katie insists Kieran will change his mind and she's hellbent on having a sixth child."
