Kerry Katona was summoned to court over taking her children out of school during term time

We can't help but feel sorry for Kerry Katona at the moment.

She's got a lot on her plate - what with splitting up with her husband George Kay and having emergency surgery on her teeth. It's a lot to contend with.

But it doesn't look like things are easing up for the poor mum-of-five, as she's apparently being taken to court by her local council.

Kerry was due to appear in Brighton Magistrates' Court yesterday (19 July) after concerns were raised by the schools of her daughters Molly, 15, and Lilly, 14.

Molly goes to school at Uplands Community College, and Kerry was fined for non-attendance - but didn't pay the fine, leading to her being taken to court.

But Gareth Jones, who was representing the council, announced in the session that Kerry's lawyer had phoned and asked if the case could be put off.

He said: "She says she is planning on paying it. We are prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt and pay it. There have been some concerns about the children's attendance.

"This instance was for taking the children away for a week's holiday."

HOWEVER.

Kerry has now hit back at claims that she was at fault, instead blaming her ex-husband Brian McFadden.

In an Instagram post, Kerry posted a written image which read: "Just to clear this whole thing regards to the children going away on holiday in February, this was not me.

"Their dad took them away to Barbados. The matter has all been sorted."

The post was immediately inundated with supportive comments, one from a fan who corrobated Kerry's statement: "I saw them with their dad at the airport in Barbados so can vouch for this!"

Phew - we're glad it's all been sorted!
