Nobody saw it coming when Liam Payne and Cheryl went public with their relationship early last year. The pair met when Liam auditioned for The X Factor back in 2008 and Cheryl was on the judging panel, and despite the 10 year age gap the pair grew close and eventually fell in love.
They have since welcomed their gorgeous little son, Bear, into the world, and are very much loved up.
But it seems that none of this would have happened if it wasn’t for… Simon Cowell!
That’s right – the X Factor mogul was apparently pulling the strings when it came to getting Liam to pluck up the courage to ask Cheryl out.
Talking on The Graham Norton show, Liam confessed that he told Simon how he felt and the modern day Cupid took matters into his own hands.
He said: “I told him how hot I thought she was.
"Weeks and months went by and then Niall (Horan) said, 'You'll never guess who fancies you!' Apparently, he had been with Cheryl when Simon told her that I fancied her - she had turned bright red and left the room!"
According to Liam, the rest is history. But he did admit that he got the last laugh when it came to his friends.
During his first audition on the show when he was just fourteen, he famously winked at Cheryl and admits his friends teased him about it for ages afterwards.
"I was ribbed terribly by my friends at school for doing that," he laughed.
"Now I am 23 and with her and my friends stand mute in the corner of the room. I have never seen them so quiet!"
They're now one of the most famous couples on the planet - so good for you, Liam!
