Yikes! Carol McGiffin really isn’t a fan of Loose Women’s newest panellist Katie Price…

She was always going to divide opinion, so it makes sense that Katie Price has made a big impression with fans of ITV’s Loose Women.

However Carol McGiffin, who previously appeared as a panellist on the show for ten years, is seriously unhappy with the fact that Katie is now sitting on the panel.

So much so that she’s branded the show’s producers as ‘desperate’ for having hired her.

“I don’t know what she’s doing there,” she told a magazine. “But she’s got a lot of Twitter followers, and they’re desperate for viewers.”

Slamming her ex-colleagues for allowing it to happen, she continued: “I can’t believe those women are sitting with her.

“Where’s their self-respect?

“That’s why the show is so different, because they’re going for people with a lot of fans.”

When it comes to knowing what works for Loose Women, Carol is definitely something of an expert.

She made 1,172 appearances on Loose Women before bowing out when the 17th series came to an end in June 2013.

When she left the show, she said: “I had so many laughs, made so many friends.

“It’s been such a big part of my life.”

It seems as if Carol isn’t the only one who disapproves of Katie’s place on the Loose Women panel.

She has been criticised for giving relationship advice to fellow I’m A Celeb star Kerry Katona, as well as coming under fire for saying she would have aborted blind son Harvey had she known about his rare genetic Prader-Willi syndrome while she was pregnant.

However there’s no denying that Pricey is up-front and honest about everything - and she never caves under pressure.

For example, when her son Junior appeared on the show and quizzed her about her split from Peter Andre, she hardly broke a sweat!

She simply said: “I don’t care, I told you why. He thought I was with another man, and when you’re older you can read about it.

“You know what I say, I’ve got nothing to hide.”
