Nobody likes going to work when they’re not feeling well; all you want to do is snuggle back down under the covers and sleep until you’re feeling better.

But, sadly, that isn’t always an option - and Coleen Nolan learned that firsthand when she was forced to soldier on through a Loose Women performance with a pretty nasty eye infection.

Speaking with her fellow panellists Janet Street-Porte, Jamelia, and Ruth Langsford, she said: "I've got an eye infection.

"It's some sort of allergy with my eyes so I haven't been able to put any make-up on.

"If they start swelling can you let me know."

As Ruth told her that she looked lovely with no slap on, Coleen joked: “Oh don’t give me that! Thank you, but you’re very blind.”

However, while we thought Coleen looked just as beautiful going au natural as she does with makeup, some viewers took to Twitter to mock her appearance.

One wrote scathingly: “What's wrong with Coleen Nolan? She looks like she's been on a 3 day coke binge! #loosewomen @loosewomen”

Another added: “What's wrong with Coleen Nolan's eyes? @loosewomen @RuthieeL”

“Oh put the 'poor me' on hold! Thousands of us are working with eye infections, hay fever, colds etc,” snapped another.

Despite all the trolls lurking online, there were still plenty who agreed with us; Coleen looked fab.

“My mummy's insisting that I tweet @loosewomen to tell @NolanColeen that she looks years younger with no makeup on,” raved one viewer.

And more fans wrote on Twitter: "Coleen still looks lovely. Embrace a bare beautiful face," and: "Go Coleen, you look amazing!"

Another added: "Coleen, I hope you feel better soon. Well done for still coming on! You go girl."
