He was only in the headlines the other day after it was confirmed that Louis Walsh will be returning to the X Factor judging panel, but he has now made a very bold statement about boybands - they only need two great singers to be successful.
Louis made a claim that Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams were the two singers that made Take That. “If you’ve got two great singers and three OK singers, you get away with it.
“That’s all you need - look at Take That! Gary and Rob, they were Take That,” He told Kate Thornton on BBC Radio 2.
We found this a little awkward considering Robbie is no longer in Take That and is currently made up of Gary, Mark Owen and Howard Donald.
But it’s not the first time Walsh has made a controversial comment about the band, in the past the X-Factor judge called Robbie a “jumped up karaoke singer”. He also described him as the biggest con artist of all time. Which is also a little confusing...
And in his latest interview - although he doesn’t take back what he said - he does compliment Robbie: “Is he a great singer? He’s not a great singer. He’s an amazing entertainer. He lights up that stage, he lights up the room, he’s brilliant.
"Do I love his voice? No. I always [vocally] preferred Gary actually”.
Take That were not the only band Louis spoke about though, when quizzed on whether he regrets or would amend the statement he made in the past about Girls Aloud he replied: “I suppose one regret I do have is not giving them enough of my time.
“Yeah I didn’t give them a lot of time, but they didn’t give me time and they didn’t even like each other. So I mean it was never going to work".
He then named Nadine as the best singer and said "she was the voice of Girls Aloud.”
He also commented that Nadine should have married a footballer because it worked for Victoria Beckham. Erm, can he not remember Spice Girls?
Louis also didn’t regret any of the insults he made about the band Hear’say and he further said in the interview with Kate: “That was my opinion at the time. They had one hit and they were gone. They didn’t look the part.”
Oh Louis, considering the fact that you've managed bands in the past we’re surprised how bold you have been with your statements especially considering how passionate fans can be.
