Michael Barrymore could be questioned by police again over the death of Stuart Lubbock as his father has called for the investigation to be reopened, just days after it emerged the entertainer could claim millions after his arrest.
The television host, who was one of the highest paid people on screen at the height of his career, sued Essex Police after he was unlawfully detained by cops in 2007.
The star, who fronted many programmes including My Kind of People, My Kind of Music and Strike It Lucky throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s, believes his loss of earnings and damage to his reputation as a result of his arrest amounts to £2.4million.
But Stuart’s father Terry Lubbock has now called for a fresh investigation into his son’s death after he was found face down and drowned in the pool at Barrymore’s home in 2001 at what was reported to be a drug-fuelled sex party.
All charges were dropped when it came to court after Michael’s initial arrest on suspicion of serious sexual assault and murder but he was detained by police again, unlawfully, in 2007.

The comedian strongly denied his part in any crimes at the time and again he was not charged, with the case being left open.
But now a new investigation could take place if Terry gets his way, according to the Daily Mirror.
He said: “I now want an outside police force to be brought in to carry out a new investigation into Stuart’s death. This is not uncommon in high profile cases so I can’t see why not.
“Essex Police clearly can’t be trusted anymore. They’ve carried out two investigations; the first one was hopelessly botched and the second one was a big improvement but ultimately has been judged to have led to the wrongful arrest of Barrymore.
“They contacted me to say the case has not been closed but they’re not doing anything fresh to catch Stuart’s killers.”
He admitted that he is considering writing to Home Secretary Amber Rudd in a bid to get a new investigation off the ground, adding: “The facts remain that Stuart was killed as the result of a violent sexual assault and those people responsible have not been brought to justice.
“I won’t rest until I see that happen.”
