Michelle Keegan has sailed through rumours about a divorce from hubby Mark Wright because the former Corrie star’s work is attracting equally big headlines.

She’s wowed viewers and critics with her portrayal of army medic Georgie Lane in the BBC’s Our Girl, and delivered some unexpected laughs with roles in Plebs and Drunk History.

But her latest TV appearance is quite a curve ball.

Michelle is set to star in a celebrity revival of the nineties game show, The Crystal Maze. The brunette beauty will be joined by former footballer Rio Ferdinand, comedian Josh Widdecombe, DJ Sara Cox and Paralympic champion Jonnie Peacock in a one-off fundraiser for Stand Up To Cancer. The Office anti-hero Stephan Merchant will present the show that airs next month.

Fans of the original may remember the host guiding contestants through the Aztec, Medieval, Futuristic and Industrial zones where they need to win time crystals. These crystals count for actual time in the final Crystal Dome, where they need to collect gold tokens to win an ultimate prize.

Judging from Michelle’s Twitter, it looks like filming wrapped on Thursday night as she re-tweeted: “It's all over! But how did they do?? You'll have to tune in to find out!”

Michelle hasn’t commented on her trip through the maze but did admit that Coronation Street was a “safety net” she wouldn’t have left if Corrie bosses hadn’t killed off her character, Tina McIntyre.

Speaking to The Sun about her recent rise, Michelle said: "I didn’t imagine it would go as well as it has since I left Corrie. I’ve been very lucky. It’s been a case of the right place, right time."

The Northern lass said she’d love to play a darker role but will next grace our small screens in a twin-set and pearls for ITV’s Tina and Bobby. The period drama about the England footballer and his wife is tipped to be a launching pad for Michelle’s career in film.

But Michelle and Mark are reportedly in discussions about their baby timeline, so La La Land may have to wait.

We didn’t see The Crystal maze coming, so who knows what Michelle has planned for us next?!
