Natalie Pinkham and Owain Wilson have confirmed that they are expecting a baby girl.

However their baby joy has been tinged with sadness, as the couple have revealed that their unborn daughter should have been born alongside a twin sibling.

Tragically, the second baby did not survive the early stages of pregnancy.

Natalie told Hello! magazine: "The first two months were a real rollercoaster. We had this strange phase of not knowing if there would be two babies or one or none.

“Then after the third scan the doctor said, ‘I am afraid you will have to accept that only one of them will make it.’”

The 37-year-old added: “It was a really emotional time.”

Natalie Pinkham understandably did not go too much into the details of losing her baby, but she did reveal that her mother and great-grandmother were also twins whose siblings did not survive.

She added: "It's nature's way and it is sad.

“My dad put it in a lovely way and said: 'One has made way for the other.’”

Natalie and her 33-year-old businessman husband are already proud parents to an 11-month-old son, Wilf.

The couple tied the knot in Obidos, Portugal back in 2012, in front of 170 guests.

At the time, Owain said he couldn’t wait to spend the future with his new wife.

"With all the madness or everyday life, it’s good to know you've got that safe haven and that this person you love will be by your side forever – it makes everything more solid," he said.
