As many of you will know, Zayn Malik pulled out of a performance at Capital FM's Summertime Ball in London over the weekend after suffering an anxiety attack.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “Unfortunately my anxiety that has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has gotten the better of me… with the magnitude of the event, I have suffered the worst anxiety of my career.

“I cannot apologise enough, but I want to be honest with everyone who has waited to see me.”

While some slammed the 23-year-old’s decision, however, he has found praise and support in his fellow celebs.

One of which was This Morning’s Phillip Schofield.

Retweeting the post into his timeline, Phillip wrote: “I have huge respect for Zayn with this.”

And, to anyone who thought he was simply exercising his trademark acerbic wit, Phil added: “Honest.”

Craig David also lent his support to Zayn, insisting that the younger singer’s decision to be honest about his issues was a very brave step.

Speaking at the Grazia Live event in collaboration with Facebook, he said: "I think it was a huge, bold move for him to be able to express himself in that way, because that's a very personal thing and it's a real thing for people to go through.

"So for him to actually say that openly to everybody, I've got huge respect for him. Especially coming from a huge band.

"You are a solo artist now and going it alone, it's a huge thing to take on your shoulders so I've got huge respect for him.

"I hope he overcomes it and finds a way that he can go out and do his performances without it keeping on haunting him."

Gigi Hadid, 21, also spoke out in support of her boyfriend.

Taking to Twitter, she wrote: "Z - I've seen the battles you go through and the way you fight to get to a place that allows you to get up there for your fans.

"Your bravery in those times makes me proud, but your honesty last night proved what you're all about, being real. Human recognises human.

"You made the best of the situation and have given your fans an opportunity to understand you better as a performer.

"Those who can find compassion now are the ones who deserve to watch you continue to grow. We are all here to support you and make each experience easier. Your talent and good heart will never lead you wrong.

"Love you and so proud of you always :) G (sic)."

It’s not the first time that Zayn has spoken publicly about his anxiety.

Shortly after leaving One Direction, he said that his decision to quit had been swayed by his personal demons.

He said: “I was always thinking it. I just didn’t know when I was going to do it. Then by the time I decided to go, it just felt right on that day.

“I woke up on that morning […] and was like, ‘I need to go home. I just need to be me now, because I’ve had enough.”
