It's no joke – Scarlett Moffatt has received support for her wacky time travel theory from none other than Stephen Hawking

While we wouldn't quite expect Gogglebox's Scarlett (known for a fair few ditsy moments!) to be backed by a world-leading physicist, it looks like we all seriously unestimated the reality star (do we spy a Nobel Prize on the horizon, Scarlett?).

Professor Hawking has emailed her personally to praise her time travel theory, expressed earlier this year on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

On the show, Scarlett told her fellow contestants: "In order to travel back in time we have to go faster than light.

"The speed of light is the same latitude point as the tip of the great pyramid."

Er, what?!

"So I think someone from the future realised we'd need the pyramids and went back in time and built them.'

Hmm – well we're scratching our heads at that one!

But confident Scarlett apparently emailed Stephen Hawking to find out what he thought of the theory, a source told The Sun on Sunday.

"Scarlett tried to contact him before the jungle, but got no reply."

"So she was staggered when, after she spoke, he got in touch and admitted her theory could well be right."

Go Scarlett! Of course, Scarlett has already seriously floored anyone doubting her intelligence this year.

Back in August, on GCSE results day, Scarlett tweeted: "To anybody worrying about their GCSE results today remember that Pitbull rhymed “Kodak” with “Kodak” and he is a millionaire."

One user cruelly replied: "And remember Scarlett Moffat made money by watching tv on tv. Anyone can be successful no matter how brain dead."

But Scarlett made him look like the dumb one, writing: "I have 13 A*-C GCSEs, 3 A levels and a 2:1 bachelors degree mate. But if you work hard & be kind you can achieve anything.”

Amen to that!
