As most parents will know, getting your children to eat a variety of food - especially fruit and vegtables - can be a difficult task. And no matter what you try, sometimes your little ones are just too stubborn and you just accept the fact that, for now, healthy just isn't their thing.

But there are some parents on the other foot that don't struggle with this problem.

However, what can be done if you were then to have a child that doesn't like the usual recipes you cook up? Or you have your child's friend over for dinner and they happen to be a fussy eater?

This week the lovely Holly talks about her own personal experince and how you can go about this problem.

Holly Bell: 'Why I smuggle vegetables into my kids’ meals'

"I confess, I was a smug mother.

"Yep, I was that mum who secretly judged those poor deluded souls who claimed their kids would only eat beige breaded items from the freezer.

"I’d inwardly scoff as they confessed to bargaining with their offspring in order to get one of their five a day into their little bodies.

"I was that mum who simply thought that they had done a better job than those lesser women who failed on the feeding front.

"I was not a vegetable smuggler, oh no. Chopping mushrooms into cous cous sized grains was not on my list of things to do.

"And then I gave birth to a vegetable rejecter.

"I have had to un-hoik my judgy pants and hang my head in shame.

"You really can do exactly the same in terms of weaning, family meals, menus… and yet, some kids just like to pick green things off their plate and throw them on the floor.

"Some detect a strip of pepper at ten paces and some shake their head in disappointment when presented with raw carrot sticks.

"It’s the luck of the draw. And everything is just a stage. Or so they say. This too shall pass and all that.

"Until it does, you’ll find me in the kitchen finely chopping mushrooms."
