Ice skating

It might seem a bit cliche, but an ice skating date is a fab way to have fun with any potential suitors. If you find yourself warming to your date you can find an excuse to hold their hand as you balance on the ice. If you’re not so keen simply feign an injury and you can dart of sharpish.

German market

The best thing about winter is that open-air Christmas markets start popping up everywhere. Arrange to meet your date at one of these spots and enjoy a cup of mulled wine or hot cider. Perfect!

Fire work display

Who doesn’t love Bonfire night? This is also a great opportunity to go on a fun date with a potential lover. You never know, perhaps you’ll feel a spark during that fire work display.

Pub Scrabble

If you’re short on cash, arrange to meet your date in a cosy pub. Bring along a board game and get a couple of glasses of wine and you have yourself a lovely first date. Fabulous.

Wine bar

If you get nervous on first dates it can sometimes help to have a little bit of Dutch courage. Head along to a trendy wine bar and sample some of their wares. Just be sure not to over do it, you don’t want your date thinking that you’re a lush!

Ping pong

Ping pong bars are opening up around the country, and why not? It makes a great date night and is a fab way of toning down the intensity of a first date. Show off your skills and let out your competitive side.

Blues night

A lot of pubs and bars have open mic nights and, increasingly, some venues are starting up special ‘blues’ music events. This is a activity to enjoy with a date, but be sure to schedule a drink before or after you’ve seen the band to make sure you can have a casual chat and get to know one another.

Comedy night

What can be more fun than a comedy night? This way you can gauge your date’s sense of humour. Laughing together can help you bond but if they laugh at an offensive joke then you’ll know they’re not The One.
