On the same day as finding out who Mary Berry's judging replacement might be on The Great British Bake Off, we've found out another possible TV judge vacancy may have been filled.

Not only was it Mary's last series as one of Bake Off's baking experts, but Strictly Come Dancing's head judge Len Goodman also stepped down from his podium.

It's been a tough ole' 12 months for the British public.

Anyway.

Strictly professional dancer Brendan Cole has thrown his hat into the ring to be considered for the head judge role.

WE KNOW.

We all thought it was going to be his pal Anton Du Beke. Awkward.

Brendan, who has danced on the BBC One show since 2004, has told the BBC that he would "love" to take over Len's role on the hit show.

He said: "I would love to if the BBC would consider me. It would be a great gig. I would love to be a judge.

"I've told the BBC I'm up for the job if they would like to even consider me. Make no bones about it, it would be a great gig - it's a phenomenal slot."

He's even happy to step in to Len's Lens and rename it Bren's Lens.

HA - good one Bren.

He went on to say that "they will probably have somebody else in mind". All together now - AWW!

But the dancer said he would "keep plugging away and hope for the best", saying: "It's something I'd like to have happen at some point in my life."

Anton is still apparently in the mix to take the judging spot, as is ex-Strictly star Karen Hardy, who was very popular with viewers.
