Thought the Bridget Jones series was finished after Bridget Jones's Baby? Think again - there's going to be a musical!

If there's one person that women across many generations can really relate to, it's Bridget Jones.

We have all, at one time or another in our lives, been a Bridget Jones.

And author Helen Fielding taught us that it is absolutely fine to be a Bridget every so often.

(Fun fact: Someone shouted "GO ON BRIDGET!" as I walked across the stage at my graduation.)

When the third film in the series, Bridget Jones's Baby, was released last year, many fans were a bit unsure of whether to see it - would it live up to our expectations? Would it be disappointing like the second film was?

Thankfully, most of us were pleasantly surprised - but it left us wondering what (SPOILER ALERT!) married life would be like for Bridget.

Well, we may not be wondering for too much longer, as author Helen Fielding has announced that a MUSICAL is in the works!

Helen appeared on Lorraine earlier today, which is being hosted by [Rochelle Humes] this week, and confirmed that a Bridget Jones musical was in the pipeline.

She said: "I think there will be a musical one day. We worked on it for a while and then it all sort of... The musical world is very spontaneous and we were all working together and then it all fluttered away in a flurry of luvviedom, but I really hope that before too long it will flutter back together again. And I think it will be great fun."

EEE now this we would love to see - sign us up!

Helen, who described Daniel Cleaver as a "sexy bastard" on the show which forced Rochelle to apologise for her language, doesn't really have anyone in mind to play Bridget on the stage (or if she does, she didn't want to say): "I don’t know. I think in a musical it is a bit different from a movie because it's more spontaneous and temporary, so I think there is lots of people who could be great in it and I think it would be a really fun night out."

The well-loved writer then also revealed that there could be yet another film about Bridget's life which takes place about ten years after the events of Bridget Jones's Baby.

SPOILER ALERT BELOW!

Unfortunately, Bridget's beloved Mark Darcy has passed away, leaving Bridget single at 50 with TWO children.

Helen said: "Well again there is another book, this is the third book. There's Mad About the Boy that hasn't been made into a movie yet where Bridget has a younger man. And I think it would make a lovely film."

But we shouldn't get our hopes up too high, as Helen explained: "Films are really hard and they take a long time and you have to work really hard to get them right. And you’ve got to do quality control - you can't just rush things out, but I would love it if Mad About the Boy was a movie too."

We're all of a fluster!
