Former Coronation Street actor Marc Anwar has apologised again for the racist rant that lost him his job at the soap.

In a shocking tirade over the weekend, the Pakistan-born actor branded Indian people “b&tards” and “p&ss-drinking cts”, according to the Sunday Mirror.

He also reportedly referred to Indian people as killers and appeared to suggest Pakistani people should refuse to work there.

After learning of the messages, Marc, who played Sharif Nazir, was asked to leave the ITV show within hours.

Speaking to BBC, he said: "Twitter is not my favourite thing, neither is Facebook. They don't concern me, I have no desire to be famous or to seek publicity.

"My Twitter account was private because I didn't want to engage with anybody."

This comes after Marc issued a video apology, trying to explain his actions.

“I would like to offer my sincerest apologies to anyone that I may have offended with my tweets on Friday evening and especially people from India,” he said.

“This was never my intention and the language was unacceptable. I feel that I have let a lot of people down, my family, my friends and my former colleagues.

“This I ... very sincerely apologise for.”

It's now been revealed that Marc lost his job at ITV with immediate effect, meaning that he won't be able to film an on-screen exit for Sharif, who's currently part of a huge storylineinvolving the revelation of a seven-year long affair.

Coronation Street viewers took to Twitter last night to vent their frustrations at Marc's scenes being shown.

Fans of the soap have praised bosses for their swift action after his offensive comments.
