As Corrie fans will no doubt be aware, Paula Lane - aka the talented actress who plays Kylie Platt in the soap - recently announced that she is pregnant with her second baby.

She tweeted the news at her fans, writing: “News just in… The new addition to the Shaw clan will be arriving summer time and @SirTomShaw and I are thrilled! #doubletrouble.”

Paula and her husband, Tom Shaw, already have a son, Artie, who turned one-year old on New Year’s Eve.

We imagine that this means that Paula, who only took three-months of her maternity leave on that occasion, may well need more time off this time around.

After all, taking care of a newborn and a toddler is no mean feat.

Speaking to The Mirror about returning to work as a mum, Paula said previously: “It has been very intense, I can’t deny it. And I’ve had to have a lot of support at home to get through it.”

So how are writers planning to explain Kylie’s absence from Weatherfield?

A show source told the Daily Star newspaper: "It's absolutely wonderful for Paula and everyone on the show is thrilled for her and Tom.

“But it has created something of a nightmare for our writers.

They added: “Paula is currently at the heart of the show with the Callum murder storyline.

“The scriptwriters are going to have to sit down and think of new ways of playing the fallout."

During the now infamous Corrie Live episode, we watched as Kylie and David - played by Jack P Shepherd - hid the body of Kylie’s drug dealing ex, Callum Logan (Sean Ward).

Kylie had bumped off the sinister soap villain when she walked in on him trying to choke her pregnant sister-in-law, Sarah (Tina O’Brien), to death - but, in soapland, no good deed goes unpunished.

And, while Callum’s body is currently stashed underneath Gail’s granny annexe, we imagine it’s only a matter of time before the truth comes out.

We imagine that writers may consider having Kylie found guilty of Callum’s murder, in a bid to explain Paula’s upcoming absence.

Either way, we hope they leave the door open for the starlet to return; the pregnant yummy mummy is definitely one of the soap’s best actresses!
