Coronation Street’s Nick has been battling against the symptoms of his brain injury over the past few weeks.

The former restaurant owner has found it increasingly difficult to control his temper and emotions… but, at the same time, he has been trying desperately to avoid facing the situation.

However, after a recent outburst left Carla (Alison King) bleeding and in shock, Nick has withdrawn even more inside himself.

And it seems as if he’s been quietly coming to a shock decision.

Shortly after returning home from his stag party, Nick confronts Carla - who is still in a giggly mood from her own hen do.

Nick soon wipes the smile from her face when he tells her that the wedding is OFF.

Will Carla be able to convince Nick that, once they get away from the stresses of Coronation Street, their relationship will be able to get back on track?

Ben Price, who plays Nick, explained to Digital Spy: "Nick is still in love with Carla. She's exciting, sexy, powerful and it's all those things that Nick is attracted to.

"I also think there's a part of Nick that wants to save her, but he's not going to be that guy if his health deteriorates. So I think as soon as he decides he's not going to be that guy, then he starts to question their relationship.”

He continued: “It's purely to do with his blackouts and his rage and what happened to Leanne on Christmas Day. Why put someone you love through that? Why not set them free?

"The thing about Nick as a character is he's not selfish enough that he thinks: 'I'm going to marry her anyway'. He thinks she shouldn't be with him, that she should be with someone who can care for her.

“He believes he won't have the capacity to care for her."

Whether Carla manages to persuade Nick to marry her remains to be seen - but, as viewers already know, Alison King is due to leave the soap later this year.

Could the events at her wedding be the driving force behind her departure?

Well, while Alison herself has no idea what the circumstances will be surrounding her character’s exit from the show, a spokesperson has claimed that she will NOT be killed off.

They said: "We wish Alison all the best with what she goes on to in the future.

“The door will be left open for a possible return for Carla.”

However there are rumours that they have simply said this in a bid to keep her death a surprise to viewers.

Eep!

Speaking about how Nick will react when he learns of Carla’s one night stand with Robert Preston - not to mention all that stuff with the Bistro - Ben previously hinted that his character will fly into a violent rage.

“The brain injury gives him that side that you can’t lock away.

“He’s always on the edge – a bit like the Hulk.”

Could he be set to hurt Carla very badly indeed?

What do you think Nick will do when he learns of Carla’s affair?
