EastEnders fans were thrilled when Ross Kemp – aka Grant Mitchell – returned to Albert Square once again, even if it was under tragic circumstances.

And viewers were even more excited when Ross tweeted it wasn’t the last we’d seen of his character in the BBC One soap!

Since it was revealed he’d be returning, we’ve been wondering what his storylines could involve, and whether this time we could see him return for longer.

Grant left Walford just before his mum Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor) died, and although he returned for her funeral, no one else was aware he had shown up to pay his respects.

However, Sharon – Grant’s former love interest and his brother Phil’s current wife – recently jetted off to America after Peggy received a mysterious letter from Michelle Fowler, after she passed away.

Taking on the role of Mitchell matriarch, Sharon (Leticia Dean) took it upon herself to deal with the matter in the letter – and went to visit her childhood friend Michelle (Susan Tully).

Viewers have been speculating that Michelle’s son Mark (who she named after her late brother), is in fact Grant’s after the pair had a regretful one night of passion in 1995, before she left and headed to America.

So could Sharon be returning with now 20-year-old Mark, who is potentially Grant’s son?

In scenes yet to air, Sharon will return from Florida to find Phil’s condition growing worse and that Ben has disappeared – and decides to contact Grant.

Confiding in friend Jane about what’s been happening, Sharon receives a text from Grant asking to meet up.

But what will happen when the pair reunite?

Especially since the last time they were together they shared – dare we say it – some sexual tension.

Speaking about his upcoming return, Ross told Radio Times: “The episodes I’m in are split over August and September.

“It’s a very strong Mitchell storyline. It’s the Mitchells back together!”

Eep!

We hope that Grant’s return could open a door for a longer stint in the soap sometime soon!

These scenes will air next week (w/c Monday 1 August) in EastEnders on BBC One.
