EastEnders fans were shocked by Lisa Fowler's return, and bullies Madison and Alexandra getting their comeuppance

We always knew that prom night in Walford was never going to go smoothly, but who could've predicted the series of events that led to Louise Mitchell being shoved into a table of live flames and sustaining life changing injuries? Everyone knew something pretty terrible was in the bag for the youngster after the trailer showed her being pushed and then writhing in pain.

But EE bosses managed to keep the fire element, plus the reason why Lou was wearing a highly flammable dress out of the public arena. As it turned out, Louise was pushed by Alexandra and stumbled back onto a table of candles lit by Travis as a romantic gesture to Louise.

And, tonight, as the extent of Louise's injuries became known, fans flooded Twitter with messages of praise and anger for the shocking storyline.

Fans were shocked to learn that Louise's dress went up like a lit match, resulting in the teen suffering third degree burns over her body.

Her surgeon informed Sharon that skin grafts and several operations would be neccesary to enable Louise to live a normal life.

But that wasn't the only shocking moment of the episode. Despite many unconfirmed reports, we saw the return of Lisa Fowler (Lucy Benjamin) who's Lou's real mum.

Lisa was a Walford legend and the culprit of the Who Shot Phil Mitchell whodunnit back in 2001. With Phil himself due back on Tuesday, we are expecting fireworks in the Square next week.

Her return also means basically ALL Phil's love interests past and present are on the Square. There's Shazza, Shirl, Kath and now Lisa. Someone just needs to bring Stella back from the dead and he's got a full house.

Lisa is also connected to Martin Fowler, after marrying his brother Mark, before he died from an AIDS-related illness. Lucy said of Lisa's return: "It was great to be back at EastEnders as it has been such a long time since I had been there.

"I loved being back in Elstree for the few weeks I was there, seeing old friends again and working with really talented people. I loved every minute of it."
