Emmerdale actress Zoe Henry has spoken out about the brutal 'rape' of her character Rhona Goskirk at the hands of her abusive boyfriend, Pierce Harris.

According to Zoe, there was no rape at all – her character had consented to the act, which left her with ripped clothes.

Fans have been unanimously calling for Pierce's head on a stick, but Zoe doesn't think he's done anything wrong.

She told What's On TV: "Nothing was shown on camera but in my mind, she did consent, even though she wasn't in the mood."

Zoe added: "Our producer, Iain MacLeod, wanted this to be something people talked about, with some people going: 'I thought that was perfectly acceptable,' and others saying: 'Are you joking? That is not acceptable at all!' And that's kind of what we got."

What do you think? Did Pierce rape Rhona or was his behaviour acceptable? Let us know over on Facebook and Twitter.
