Scottish theatre actor Rory Douglas Speed is stepping into the shoes of Andrew Still as Warren Fox's son, Joel Dexter, on Hollyoaks.

Joel left the soap under a cloud back in January 2013 when he was caught trying to steal from Brendan Brady.

But show bosses have decided to resurrect "Scottish Foxy" as a trainee priest!

The new-look Joel has been described as a "man walking a road to redemption". But the friendly priest won’t find an easy audience with everyone as he’s set for a tricky reunion with nasty father, Warren (Jamie Lomas).

The 24-year-old newcomer tread the boards in Trainspotting at the King's Head Theatre earlier this year where he received rave reviews.

Rory said: "I'm super chuffed to be a part of such a well-known and well received show.

"Everybody involved is amazing. I'm really excited to see how the character develops. Looking forward to the next chapter of my career!"

Insiders say that Joel's Christian ways will be tested by Warren - so we can’t wait to see how he handles confession!

Joel is back in the village this September so keep an eye out for Scottish Foxy in a collar.

Hollyoaks airs weeknights on Channel 4 at 6:30pm and E4 at 7pm.
