Hollyoaks has a BIG autumn ahead.

From the McQueen's double wedding, Kim Butterfield returning and Nico finally being discovered as the murderer she is, there's a lot about to happen.

This Autumn, the Channel 4 soap will team up with Rape Crisis to explore a dark storyline.

In next week's episode, still attempting to move on from her ex-boyfriend Freddie Roscoe, Ellie (Sophie Poley) goes to a Fresher's Week event where she hits it off with Dirk's nephew Nick (Ben Ryan-Davies).

When the pair return to Ellie's house, she begins to feel really drunk, meanwhile Nick continues to kiss her…

The following morning Ellie wakes up with no memory of having sex with Nick and starts to panic when she sees her underwear on the floor; whereas Nick is oblivious and enjoyed his night.

Sophie Poley previously said: "Because of the nature of the story, I think it's going to split opinion, which is absolutely fantastic and that's what we're aiming to do with this, to open up a discussion."

And now Sophie, Ben Ryan-Davies and Hollyoaks' executive producer Bryan Kirkwood have opened up to Digital Spy about the upcoming storyline.

Ben said: "I'm very interested to see how the audience is going to react to Nick.

"It might just split the viewers right down the middle. Half might be on Nick's side and half might be on Ellie's side."

The atmosphere before and after their night together is completely different and Sophie admitted that the storyline will leave the audience questioning what happened between the characters: "When we were watching the scenes back ourselves, I even said 'I feel sorry for Nick' and Ben said 'I feel sorry for Ellie'."

Ben also explained that his character is confused the next morning because he doesn't know how Ellie is feeling: "He thinks he's just being rejected after a one-night stand and he's none the wiser about how Ellie feels.

"He does try with Ellie and he does like her, but she's just backing off. Nick knows that and he decides that she just doesn't like him, so it's fair enough."

Hollyoaks are working alongside Rape Crisis and young charity The Mix with this storyline, deciding that to make the storyline one focusing on the subject of consent story instead of rape as it's a "grey area" and one that warrants conversation.

Nick Savage's first episode will air tonight on E4's First Look at 7pm.
