If you’re anything like us, you’ll have watched Home Alone more times than you can remember.

But now, a shocking fan theory has changed the way we’ll watch the movie forever!

The sinister theory, which was posted online by Redditor cubanesis){href='(https://www.reddit.com/r/FanTheories/comments/3xusmc/home_alone_peter_mccallister_is_a_criminal/)' } claims that Kevin's very forgetful father, Peter McCallister, isn’t as innocent as he seems. In fact, the reason he can afford such a huge mansion – which would be worth more than £1.5million - is apparently because he's some kind of mobster, raking in all sorts of illegal money.

He even goes so far as to say that Peter’s criminal activities explain why Kevin is so relaxed about going to war with the film’s baddies, and why the rest of the McCallister family – including Kevin’s mum – are such “jerks.”

The Redditor pinpoints three really interesting points in his theory:

**Why is he so defensive when it comes to the police? **

"The very first time we see Peter is when Harry is dressed as a cop scoping the place out. Peter is way defensive in this interaction.

"All Harry does is ask If he's the owner of the house and Peter jumps straight to "Am I in some Kind of trouble officer?" The look in his face is on edge the whole time he's talking to Harry."

Hmmmmm… fishy!

**Could it be suspicious that Harry and Marv (the robbers) are so keen to break into his house? **

Could Harry and Marv be on the lookout for sweet sweet revenge?

"Harry calls the McCallister house ‘The Silver Tuna’, the big score, etc. They specifically target this neighborhood for the McCallister house. When we see in the house there's nothing particularly valuable looking around.

"We don't ever see them mention jewels, or a safe or anything like that, but still this house that Harry has only seen the entryway to is THE HOUSE to rob. This might have just been a remnant of the original story line where Uncle Frank hired Harry and Marve to rob the place, but without that abandoned story line, why are they targeting that house specifically?"

**Why do they have so much money? **

"We never find out what he [Peter] does. They don't mention where he works, or his background, or anything. Now in the the book adaptation of the movie they say something about him being in "business". That's pretty vague. But Peter makes enough money to have a wife that doesn't work and like 5 kids. He also has a house that is worth like 1.5 million."

What do you think? Do you think the McCallister have a whole loads of criminal secrets? Or are people thinking waaaaaay too much into things?Let us know your Home Alone thoughts over on Facebook and Twitter
