We were so excited to watch the Lego Movie 2, but it turns out the release date has been pushed back.

The second installment was previously going to be released on May 18th 2018 but now we’ll have to wait until February 8th 2019.

That’s a whole NINE months (you could have a baby in that time).

The reason for the delay is currently unknown, but we’re hoping that they are just trying to make sure the sequel is perfect, right?

Because, there is a lot to live up to - including that song...

And this isn't the only Warner Bros. film that has changed it’s original release date either. Geostorm - a sci-fi movie starring Gerald Butler - has been pushed back to October 20th 2017 and Live By Night - a drama film starring Ben Affleck - has been moved forward to January 13th.

Even though we don’t know the reason for the LEGO Movie 2 delay, we do know that there will be a lot more female roles. Christopher Miller, writer and director of the first LEGO Movie, previously told the BBC: “I don’t want to give spoilers but there will be more female characters and more female stuff."

The sequel will see Rob Schrab as the new director and Christopher, Phil Lord, Michelle Morgan and Jared Stern as screenwriters.

Even though we now have to wait until 2019, spin-off The LEGO Batman Movie will be released on February 10th 2017.

So let’s get excited for that, by watching the teaser trailer here:
