Channel 4’s much loved, award-winning documentary series, The Secret Life of 4, 5 and 6 Year Olds, returns to our screens tonight - with a cast of unruly, charming, five-year-old scamps ready to steal our hearts.

Watch a clip here:

Wouldn't we all LOVE to know what happens when we send the kids off to nursery or school? Because, honestly, you can't go on what they tell you when they get home...

This programme also gives you an insight into what's going on behind all that bizarre pre-school and Year One behaviour, as child development specialists are on hand to translate what is really going on. Let's face it, we need all the help we can get when it comes to working out what's going on in the minds of our little monkeys.

With more cameras than ever before, filmed inside a brand new inner-city school, and with ever more ambitious and revealing games and tasks, this week's episode sees ten new five-year-olds arrive at the play centre. With a year of school under their belts, these children are asserting their independence and becoming more and more interested in exploring the adult world around them. How will they cope when they encounter other children who are different to themselves?

Well we can all relate to that - and isn't it nice to know everyone's children are as crazy as your own? The definition of comfort viewing.

The first episode is on Channel 4 tonight at 8pm.
