Clare Balding has poured hot water on claims she’s favourite to host the Great British Bake Off when it moves from the BBC to Channel 4.

She was the bookies’ favourite to replace presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins after they announced they would be leaving the show.

But sports journalist Clare who recently presented the Paralympics from Brazil isn’t interested in appearing in front of the GBBO cameras, according to the Daily Star Sunday.

She said: “It’s absolutely hysterical and of course I’m flattered, but it’s funny.

“I wouldn’t be interested in presenting it. I like watching it - why would I want to be presenting it? I can’t cook.

“I want Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley to do it, that would be brilliant. Or someone like Julie Walters and Judie Dench.”

As part of a shake-up when the show moves to Channel 4, Mel and Sue, and Mary Berry are leaving.

It is thought former Spice Girl Geri Horner could be joining as a judge after her success on the celebrity version earlier this year and Taylor Swift has even been named as a possible new presenter as she’s a big fan of the show.
