Ore Oduba: 'I'm a VICTIM of the Strictly curse'

Ore Oduba has joked that he’s a victim of the infamous Strictly Come Dancing curse.

The BBC sports presenter, who won the ballroom dance contest last weekend, says he felt awkward after his wife Portia struck up a friendship with his professional dance partner Joanne Clifton.

The so-called curse as seen marriages and relationships end when celebrities fall for their dance partners after working with them for months.

But things turned out rather differently for Ore and Portia.

During an appearance on Loose Women, Portia was asked if she was worried about her marriage after Ore signed up for the competition.

She admitted she didn’t have any major worries but confessed it was something that was at the back of her mind.

Portia said: “You know what, going into it, it is at the back of your mind because it is something that always crops up every year, but as soon as I met Jo, I was like, ‘Wow.’

“I’m not just saying that. She was amazing, and your partner makes your whole experience. It can make it or it can break it. We were so lucky in the fact it made it for us.”

When asked if the pair got along, she added: “Massively! We were going out for dinner, we were texting, we were talking about make-up and clothes.”

Ore laughed: “I was the third wheel!

“There was a lovely moment towards the end of the series where Portia had work and she came and joined Jo and me after a session and went into town.

“(Strictly) sweeps you up. I hadn’t had the chance to do anything work-wise, admin-wise - boring life admin.

“So I left training and I was on my phone for a bit and the next thing I looked up and Portia and Jo were 100 yards down the road just yapping.

“I was the victim of the Strictly curse!”
