The X Factor has been plagued with ‘fix’ accusations since it started. Much like Simon Cowell’s other talent show, Britains Got Talent, the TV mastermind has faced criticism following the amount of airtime given to the more unusual acts like Bradley and Ottavio.

But now, fans of the singing competition are so outraged by one of the acts that has managed to get hold of a coveted slot on the live shows that they have focused their energies on trying to get them taken off the show to make space for other contestants.

Honey G, also known as Anna Georgette Gilford, caused shockwaves during her audition when she turned up clad in sunglasses and a bomber jacket, putting her own spin on Missy Elliot's Work It.

And now viewers are astounded that the wannabe rapper has managed to surpass other talents, such as Samantha Atkinson, at the judges houses.

Mentor to the ‘Overs’, Sharon Osborne, gave Honey G the chance to shine – ultimately dashing the dreams of the other contestants.

So overwhelming is the fury towards the rapper that fans have set up an online petition to have her completely removed from the competition.

The petition, which was set up by Samantha’s cousin, Yasemin Kara, has gained traction and received almost 11,000 signatures at the time of writing from fans who believe that Honey G has no place in the show.

Fans also took to social media over the weekend to vent their frustration and call her a ‘gimmick’:

“Why do I waste my life watching X Factor, sending talented singers home for Honey G? I’m out. Not watching it ever again ..”

“So I think we all know XFactor is a fix now that honey g is in the live shows”

“I’M ACTUALLY REALLY ANNOYED ABOUT HONEY G … So many good singers went home and s**t like her stayed”
