One of Strictly's best-loved professional dancers Brendan Cole has revealed he's taking a week off from the show to recover from a chest infection. He said that, following medical advice from his doctor, he has been advised to rest until the end of the week, having been rushed to hospital last week.

He told Zoe Ball yesterday on It Takes Two: "I'll let you in on a little secret, we have the lovely Gorka stepping in for me for a few days whilst I try to beat a chest infection."

He's not yet sure about when he'll be able to return to the dancefloor, explaining: "The doctor advised I take off until Thursday/Friday at least."

The dancer, who is paired with American singer Anastacia, has been replaced with Gorka Marquez, who exited last week, while he recovers.

Strictly come Dancing has already experienced weeks of drama, with Will Young leaving for personal reasons, and many people questioning the outcomes of the public votes so far.
