Strictly Come Dancing has reportedly been struck by chaos after a mystery bug started to sweep through the professional dancers this week.

Aljaz Skorjanec, Neil Jones, Anton du Beke, Janette Manrara and Katya Jones have all been hit with flu-type symptoms, possibly throwing the show into crisis.

The news comes one week after Brendan Cole rushed to hospital for medical treatment as he struggled to breathe due to a serious lung infection.

He was able to perform on the BBC show on Saturday night and thanked NHS staff for their care last weekend.

But Strictly bosses are reportedly nervous this latest illness could cause problems ahead of the programme tonight.

A source told The Sun: "Producers are now concerned some of the other pros could be following in Brendan’s footsteps.

"They have to rehearse and dance very intimately. And at the moment they are dropping like flies."

Twinkled-toe pro Katya, who is partnered with politician Ed Balls, has had to take breaks numerous times during rehearsals this week due to sickness and during series spin-off show It Takes Two on Thursday, she admitted she’d lost her voice.

And while Ed is looking forward to performing this weekend after getting his first spray tan, he fears Katya’s poor health could cost them their place in the competition.

"He really credits Katya for choreographing amazing, comical routines for them and fears that if she isn’t feeling her best their standard could slip dramatically," the source added.
