But, as many parents will agree, becoming a mum or dad is tough. Really tough.

You have someone who is entirely dependent on you, who doesn’t always play fair, and who desperately craves your attention and approval every single day.

Many parents work together as a team to tackle all of those little problems that crop up - and they are able to share the load between each other, when the going gets tough.

Single mums, however, have to soldier on alone - and, despite being an act of love that is well worth it, it can prove a lonely experience for many.

Taking to Whisper, the secret-sharing app, these 23 single mums have bravely confessed their biggest fears about motherhood.
